Dear Friends,
I hope you are well and have been able to get out and enjoy these beautiful autumn days.
Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who supported us and ordered the September letter. We all hope you enjoyed them. We had hoped to share them with just a few of you, and much to our surprise and delight, almost 100 letters have now been sent out!
Quentin has ordered the green and orange inks he has been dreaming about, and little Robin has bought a new set of crayons. Thank you so much for your generosity. It really does make a huge difference to our lives here at Rookscroft.
I’m also very excited to share some of the new things happening in our little shop on Stonegate. We have decided to create a special corner called The Rookscroft Post, where customers will be able to buy letters, customise their envelopes with ink stamps, and post them in our magical little mailbox to send on to their friends.
Here is a little sketch of how I imagine it will look...

If you look carefully at my funny little sketch you will see mice that are helping to guide customers as they navigate their way around. I started building the mice last week and I'm hoping to make a few more and paint them soon.

I can't wait to share the progress of this project with you all, I really think it will help to bring our little shop to life.
We are also busy writing and making things for our October letter, which is all about Halloween.
Don't you just love this special time of year? I think there is something wonderfully cosy about October, with the darker evenings, autumn leaves and the feeling that the world is becoming just a little bit more mysterious.
I'm very excited to share all of Quentin and Robin's hard work, and there is also a special something from the Wild Woods. If you've joined us as a subscriber, your October letter will be making its way to you as early as next week. For everyone else, the October letter will be available on the website from the 1st.
I'll hand you over to you know who, I'm off to peel some apples and make a pie.

Well hello again!
I do hope you’re having a good month, getting out and soaking up all this glorious sunshine we are having.
Here at Rookscroft, life has been taken over by apples lately. The kitchen’s just full of them! I’ve looked them over carefully and there isn’t a grub in sight, which, I must confess, was a slight disappointment.
Jayne’s making a pie, which will be very appreciated, and Robin’s been in the library looking over an old book of seasonal treats. Now he’s tinkering on the kitchen table. I’m not quite sure what he’s up to, but he had me go out with him earlier and fly up into the crab apple tree to peck a few off for him, and then he was all of a dither over toothpicks.
I've ventured out to take a dust bath under the lavender, with one eye open for the post. I can’t wait for my inks to arrive, and I’m planning to use my new orange one for my Halloween letter, so be warned!
I hear Robin calling me from the kitchen, so I’d better shake out my feathers and find out what he’s up to.
A word to the wise: be careful when looking in other people’s baskets. You might find a small quail in there, as I did, and let me tell you, life has never been the same since.
Bye for now, and don’t spare the treats!
Quentin

Hello everyone
It’s me here, your friend Robin, and I’m a bit sticky and my feet are a little bit red right now because I’ve been making candy apples like the ones I saw in a book.
I’ve never tasted one before, but they look like red jewels. They are really just fruit covered in some red sugar that has melted, so you can eat it.
I am really excited because Jayne said lots of people read the letter from me that she sent, and that means that the picture of the bee I met is now in lots of people’s homes. So the bee is sort of famous, and I think he would like that.
Jayne took a picture of the candy apples to share with you. Her camera works in colour, and I thought you might like to see how nice and red they are.
I’m going to call Quentin now so that he can see them and maybe eat one too. If you were here, I would make one for you too, but you have to brush your teeth afterwards because otherwise they go black, which is good for Halloween but not for the rest of the year.
Oh, here comes Quentin now!
Thank you for reading this, and thank you for the crayons.
Robin
